Mazzer Mini Espresso Grinder

The Mazzer "Mini" is not exactly portable, but it is one of the best grinders available. It is the smallest of the Mazzer line of top quality grinders from Italy. If you grind your beans at home and take them on the move, this is one of your best options for a consistent grind.

It will last a long time and is commercial quality and sometimes used in cafes, often as a backup or decaf grinder. Spare parts are available separately, but will not likely be needed for a long time. One reviewer suggests they are using their original grinding burrs after 8 years of daily abuse.

It has been noted that often people who buy a Rocky Rancilio grinder, or other cheaper grinders end up deciding to upgrade to the Mazzer. Not a cheap option, but if you are serious about coffee, this might be where you want to end up.

You should also be aware of how the doser works. For light duty use, it might be annoying to get out small amounts as it may require more beans than you want to use. You may find the electronic measuring model easier to use for home use.

The machine arrives preset for espresso grinding with a label showing settings for a coarser grind.

There is a step-less wheel for minor adjustments and you have a capacity of 1.3 lbs in the hopper and up to 0.44 lbs of ground coffee. It uses 58mm flat burrs.

As expected of a machine of this quality, rotation speed is slow enough not to overheat your coffee.
